Stewards

There are a team of stewards at Milton and we are continually blessed by their hard work and dedication to God and his people. They've introduced themselves and their role below and hope to welcome you to the church soon.

Although my parents weren’t church goers I was drawn to the church from a young age and I was singing in the church choir, in the summer school holiday I spent  two weeks attending C.S.S.M. Children's special service mission held at the C of E church. I became a Christian at a Billy Graham event held at Ashton Gate. I am settled here at Milton as I enjoy the relaxed friendly atmosphere and feel excited for the future. I work full time as a transport manager and enjoy being outdoors in my spare time walking with the dog and gardening. I am also a member of the Weston Street Pastor team.

I became a Christian at the age of 12. Some years later I moved to Weston and joined Milton in 1993 when I married the caretaker’s daughter. I have served as a steward on and off since 2002 and am now also chair of the Property and Finance committee.

I am a retired Maths teacher who enjoys amateur dramatics, musicals and westerns. My big hobby though is birdwatching and you can often find me out around Sand Point or Weston sewage works!

I have been coming to Milton Methodist Church since I was a child, I grew up in the Sunday school, sang in the junior choir, I have many happy memories attending the youth club and eventually as a teenager being received into membership. I was married here and both my children were baptised at Milton. I also have many happy memories of running the Brownie pack, then teaching in the Sunday school and now I have the privilege of being a Steward. When I am not at work (as a nurse) I enjoy, sewing, gardening and having fun with my grandson.  Church members and my faith have supported me through good times and sad times, I see Milton Methodist Church not just as a church but as “My Church Family”.

Our Role within Milton Methodist

The stewards responsibilities to the church cover a variety of tasks but basically fall into two categories Practical and Pastoral. The practical side is to ensure the building is safe for its users, prepared and ready for the services to run smoothly. Making sure any visiting preachers are aware how the services run and that they have everything that they need.

The pastoral side is about making sure the members and visitors feel welcomed. Communicate and implement any policies or decisions made by church council and also to take any concerns or ideas that the church family have, regarding church life, to the church council.

Also as church leaders we work closely with the minister in developing the fellowship and spiritual growth of the church and its outreach to the community.

If you need any help at an event or service, have questions regarding the church or its activities please speak to one of us. We will be happy to help. Or if you are new to our congregation please do come and say hello, we'd love to get to know you and help you settle into our church family whether you're here for a short visit or long term membership.

We understand you may wish to speak to us outside the church so please feel welcome to contact us through other means. There is a form on the contact page you can use or try visiting the Milton Methodist Church facebook page for more information or to speak to a member of the church team.
